Where to find the Gothic 1 Remake Fisk

No quest markers in this game — so here is the walk, landmark by landmark, from the gate you probably just came through.

Fisk works the marketplace of the Old Camp. From the castle gate, take the path east until it opens into the big square with the firepit at its center — the market district, and the spot where camp NPCs gather to drink and sing after dark. Fisk sits in front of his hut right on that square, usually on the bench.

He is one of the first traders a fresh prisoner can reach, which is exactly why the Gothic 1 Remake Fisk shows up in so many early plans: sell him loot for ore nuggets, buy lockpicks for a picklock route, and come back later when his quest lines open up. If you have not found the market yet, the interactive colony map will orient you faster than any text can.

One stall, three visits

What the Gothic 1 Remake Fisk does at each stage of your run

Wikis file Fisk under 'merchant' and move on. In practice you come back to this one stall three times, each visit for a different reason — that timeline is the cleanest way to understand him.

1First days in the colonyChapter 1, before any faction

Use Fisk as your shop: offload looted gear for ore nuggets, stock up on lockpicks, and browse his early blades and bows. His Digger's Light Trousers are the paid route to your first armor if you skip the free one.

2While you court the Old CampDuring Casting Shadows

Two of the admission side quests run through this one stall: buy Whistler his sword without blowing the negotiation, then find Fisk a new fence in the New Camp. Together they bank a vote and Fisk's own support.

3After you joinShadow's Dress in hand

Come back and ask 'Could you improve my armor?' — Fisk upgrades the Shadow's Dress for ore, raising its resistances as you climb the camp's ranks.

Side quest · 300 XP

A New Fence for Fisk, step by step

The quest everyone searches for. You caused his problem — Thorus had you run Mordrag out of camp, and Mordrag was Fisk's smuggling contact. Now Fisk needs a new fence, and the answer lives in the New Camp.

1
Finish Out of Sight first

The quest only unlocks after Thorus's job 'Out of Sight' — running Mordrag, the New Camp tout, out of the Old Camp. That errand is what costs Fisk his old smuggling contact.

2
Hear Fisk out at the marketplaceSingle source

Talk to Fisk afterwards and he admits the problem: no fence, no black-market stock. Take the sympathetic line — reported as 'Relax, I'm sure we can fix this' — to open the job.

3
Find Sharky in the New CampSingle source

Head west to the New Camp and make for the tavern by the lake. Sharky sits on a bench in the cave dwelling behind it — early reports say past Wedge, over the bridge Homer stands on.

4
Pitch him, then report back

Tell Sharky that Fisk needs a new fence — he's game. Return to Fisk at the Old Camp marketplace for 300 XP and his support for your admission.

The walk itself is the only real obstacle: Sharky, the New Camp fence, lives in the New Camp, a trek west through wildlife that does not scale down for errands. Ask around there and it’s Cipher, the swamp-weed dealer, who turns the fence job down but names Sharky. Our Sharky location guidemaps the exact bench he sits on and the recruit dialogue. Reporting back completes the loop — 300 XP, and the camp’s fence problem becomes your credit with the Shadows.

Side quest · 200 XP

Whistler's Sword: the 110-ore markup and the line that fails it

A simple delivery with one scripted twist and one genuine trap. Whistler hands you 100 ore for a sword Fisk is holding — and Fisk wants 110. What you say next decides the quest.

1
Take Whistler's 100 ore

Once Casting Shadows is underway, talk to Whistler at his hut by the marketplace. He wants a sword Fisk is holding for him and hands you 100 ore nuggets to fetch it.

2
Ask Fisk about the sword — and don't argue

Fisk now wants 110 ore, not the 100 Whistler promised. Swallow it. Questioning the price is the trap that ends the quest on the spot.

3
Walk the price back to Whistler

Tell Whistler about the markup and he grumbles but hands over the extra 10 ore. No persuasion check, no catch — just the walk.

4
Pay 110, deliver the sword

Buy the sword from Fisk for the full 110 ore and bring it to Whistler: 200 XP, and Whistler's vote toward your Old Camp admission.

Is the blade worth coveting? It is a solid early bastard sword with a high Strength requirement — but it is Whistler’s, and the vote he casts for you is worth more than the steel. The weapons guideranks what you can actually wield at low Strength, including the free blades that rival anything on Fisk’s rack.

The stall

What the Gothic 1 Remake Fisk sells — and why we won't quote prices

Early-access price lists contradict each other on exact ore values, so this table tells you what the Gothic 1 Remake Fisk stocks, not what your save will charge. Check the stall before you commit a big pile of ore.

One-handed bladesSingle source

A rack of starter swords — rusty and short blades up to a light guard's sword — solid until quest rewards outpace them.

Bows & arrowsSingle source

A shortbow and a rider's bow with arrows to match: the cheapest way to put ranged damage on a fresh character.

LockpicksSingle source

Sold in bulk — the supply line for a picklock build raiding the colony's chests.

ArmorSingle source

Digger's Light Trousers, the paid route to your first protection if you skipped the free digger set.

SundriesSingle source

Torches, candles, leather strips, iron and other oddments — and he buys your loot for ore nuggets.

Two stock notes worth knowing. The Digger’s Light Trousers are the paid route to your first protection — the free alternative is covered in the armor guide. And his bulk lockpicks are the supply line for chest-raiding builds; pair them with the right skill picks before you spend a single learning point.

After you join

Shadow's Dress armor upgrades at Fisk's stall

The part of the Gothic 1 Remake Fisk most location guides skip entirely: once you wear the Old Camp's colors, his stall turns into your armorer.

Join the Old Camp and the Shadow’s Dress is your reward — and Fisk is the man who improves it. Ask him “Could you improve my armor?” and his upgrade menu opens: each tier costs ore and raises the armor’s resistance values, with some tiers changing how the dress looks.

What nobody can honestly tell you yet is the exact ore cost per tier — sources disagree this soon after launch, so we list none Single source. Budget loosely, keep a reserve of nuggets, and weigh each upgrade against the resistance tables in the armor guide before you pay. The same upgrade pattern repeats in the other factions — Wolf handles it for the New Camp, Baal Namib for the Swamp Camp.

Quick answers

Gothic 1 Remake Fisk FAQ

Where do you find the Gothic 1 Remake Fisk?

The Gothic 1 Remake Fisk trades at the Old Camp marketplace. From the castle gate, follow the path east until it opens into the big square with the central firepit — the market district. Fisk sits in front of his hut there, usually on the bench, and the stall doubles as the place NPCs gather at night. He is one of the first traders you can reach in Chapter 1.

How do you complete A New Fence for Fisk?

Finish Thorus's quest Out of Sight first — driving Mordrag out is what costs Fisk his fence. Then talk to the Gothic 1 Remake Fisk at the marketplace and take the sympathetic dialogue line. Travel to the New Camp, find Sharky in the cave dwelling behind the lakeside tavern, tell him Fisk is hiring, and report back for 300 XP plus Fisk's support toward your Old Camp admission.

Why does Fisk charge 110 ore for Whistler's sword?

It's a scripted markup: Whistler hands you 100 ore, but the Gothic 1 Remake Fisk demands 110 when you ask about the blade. The quest expects the detour — walk back to Whistler, tell him the new price, and he adds the missing 10 ore. Pay Fisk the full 110, deliver the sword, and you earn 200 XP and Whistler's admission vote.

Can you fail Whistler's Sword by saying the wrong thing?

Yes — this is the trap the quest is known for. If you challenge the Gothic 1 Remake Fisk with the line questioning his original price ('Weren't you going to sell it for a hundred?'), he refuses to sell and the quest fails instantly. Keeping the sword for yourself also fails it and costs you admission standing, and pocketing the ore makes Whistler hostile after about two in-game days by early reports.

Does the Gothic 1 Remake Fisk upgrade your armor?

Yes. Once you join the Old Camp and wear the Shadow's Dress, the Gothic 1 Remake Fisk offers the 'Could you improve my armor?' dialogue, which opens his upgrade service. Upgrades cost ore and raise the armor's resistance values, with some tiers changing its look. Exact ore costs per tier haven't settled across sources yet, so budget loosely rather than to a number.

What does Fisk sell, and are his prices fixed?

The Gothic 1 Remake Fisk stocks starter one-handed blades, a shortbow and rider's bow with arrows, bulk lockpicks, Digger's Light Trousers and assorted sundries — and he buys loot for ore nuggets. Early-access price lists disagree with each other on exact numbers, so treat any specific figure you read as provisional; check his stall in-game before you plan a big purchase.
