A Gothic 1 Remake Baal is not one character — it is the title worn by the Brotherhood of the Sleeper’s Gurus and missionaries. In the Gothic Remake you meet half a dozen of them, and their favour is the gate to the faction: win over at least four of the five Gothic 1 Remake Baal gurus, reach level 5, and Cor Kalom initiates you. This guide tells every Baal apart — Namib, Orun, Cadar, Tyon and Tondral — maps the favour each one wants, and shows the item chain that links them together.

Not ready yet — Cor Kalom needs four Guru recommendations and a level-5 hero. Finish the steps below.
This tracker reflects only the Baal Gurus you tick — it maps the Gothic 1 Remake swamp camp admission rule, it cannot read your save. You only need four of the five favours, so one Guru can always be skipped if his quest gives you trouble.

Five Gurus and a handful of recruiters all share the Baal title, which is exactly why players get lost. Here is who each Gothic Remake Baal is and where you meet them — jump to any name for the full favour solution.

Joining the Brotherhood is not a single quest — it is a reputation check across five separate Gurus. Get these four facts straight before you set foot in the temple.
Who the Baals are
"Baal" is the title of the Brotherhood of the Sleeper's Gurus — the order's spiritual leaders — not one person.
The admission gate
Win the favour of at least 4 of the 5 Gurus, then Cor Kalom initiates you into the Brotherhood.
Level requirement
Reach character level 5 before Cor Kalom will accept your recommendations.
The cardinal rule
Never speak to a Guru before he speaks to you — approaching one uninvited can hurt your admission.

The structure matters because it changes how you play the Swamp Camp intake. You are not chasing one golden quest; you are quietly building standing with a ritual hierarchy until four of its five leaders vouch for you. Because you only need four of the five, one stubborn Guru can always be skipped — if a single favour is bugged or a reward roll is gone, you are never hard-locked out of the Brotherhood.
The other half of the gate is your character sheet. Cor Kalom will not initiate a hero below level 5, so the Gothic 1 Remake Baal gurus questline doubles as a soft level check. Spend your early learning pointson something you will keep, clear a few of the colony’s easier chapter-one quests for experience, and you will usually cross level 5 before the fourth recommendation is in hand.
Why the order matters
The Gurus are not independent — two of them hand you the exact item a third Guru wants. Do them in the wrong order and you waste a reward roll. This is the single most useful thing to know before you start.
Baal Orun→ finish his Swampweed Harvest quest → he rewards a Sleep scroll→ cast it on a Novice in front of Baal Cadar to win Cadar’s favour.
Baal Kagan→ finish his Canvassing Customers quest → choose the Dreamcall (Prepared) rollas your reward → give it to Baal Tyon for his approval.
Read those two chains and the whole questline collapses into something simple. Baal Orun is a “source” Guru and Baal Kagan a “source” NPC — between them they hand you the items that Baal Cadar and Baal Tyon want — while Baal Namib (won through Lester) and Baal Tondral (who wants a fresh recruit from the Old Camp) stand apart. So in any Gothic Remake Baal run, do Orun and Kagan first, bank their reward items, and only then spend them on Cadar and Tyon. Pick the wrong reward from Kagan and the Dreamcall roll never appears — a small choice that can cost you Tyon entirely.
Guru by Guru
The five Gothic 1 Remake Baal gurus in the order that wastes the least effort: source quests first, then spend their rewards. Single-source markers mean one guide carries the exact step rather than several.
At the camp entrance, standing with Lester the first time you arrive.
Approached through Lester, never directly. Talk to Lester beside the Guru and speak about the old gods and the Sleeper; Lester vouches for you and Baal Namib accepts you as a true believer.
By the herb-processing area inside the camp.
Finish Ghorim's Replacement first; Baal Orun then approaches you with the Swampweed Harvest quest. Gather swampweed from the two harvesters outside camp, deliver it to Cor Kalom, and report back. His reward — a Sleep scroll — is the key to Baal Cadar.
Across from the entrance to Cor Kalom's laboratory, by the kneeling Novices.
Use a Sleep scroll (Baal Orun's reward) on one of the Novices kneeling before him. He is shocked, but impressed by your command of the Sleeper's magic — favour earned.
Inside the camp, near Cor Kalom's lab.
Won with the Dreamcall (Prepared) roll — take Baal Kagan's Canvassing Customers quest, choose the Dreamcall (Prepared) roll as your reward, then bring it to Baal Tyon to earn his approval.
At his sermon tent in the camp's northeast, near the arena past Cor Kalom's lab.
Take his New Souls for the Brotherhood quest — travel back to the Old Camp and convince a convict (Dusty) to follow you to the swamp and join the Brotherhood. Bring the recruit back and Baal Tondral grants his favour.
Baal Orun’s Swampweed Harvest is the one quest with a hard prerequisite — you have to finish Ghorim’s Replacement before Orun will even notice you. Get that out of the way early and the rest of the chain flows: harvest the swampweed, hand it to Cor Kalom, collect the Sleep scroll, and you are already halfway to two Gurus at once.
Baal Namib is the odd one out and the easiest to fumble. He never gives you a quest; instead you talk to Lester beside him about the old gods and the Sleeper, Lester plays along, and Namib decides you are a true believer. If you walk up to Namib directly you will get nothing — this is the clearest case of the “never speak first” rule.
Baal Tondral is the fifth Gothic 1 Remake Baal guru and the one players most often miss — partly because he is easy to confuse with the source NPC Baal Kagan. Find him at his sermon tent in the camp’s northeast and take his New Souls for the Brotherhood quest: it starts by hearing out his pupil Melvinat the circle, then heading back to the Old Camp to talk a convict into following the Sleeper and bringing the recruit to the swamp for Tondral’s approval.

Before the Gurus
You cannot win any Guru's favour until you survive the swamp. The Brotherhood's recruiters in the Old Camp exist exactly to get you there in one piece.

Baal Parvez preaches in the Old Camp marketplace alongside Baal Taran, selling new arrivals on the Brotherhood: freedom from the mines, the gift of the Sleeper’s magic, the path to Templar. His real value is practical — speak to him and he walks you through the swamp to the temple gate, fighting whatever you meet on the way. The order recruits beyond the Old Camp too: Baal Isidro works the New Camp tavern the same way, so a Gothic 1 Remake Baal you meet outside the swamp is almost always a missionary, not a Guru.
For a first trip that guided walk is far safer than picking your own line through the marsh. If you would rather scout the route yourself, plot it on the interactive colony map first, and read the full Swamp Camp guide for what the faction actually offers once you are inside. To compare it against the other factions before you commit, the camps overview lays all three side by side.
Quick answers
There is no single character called Baal. "Baal" is the title prefix worn by the Gurus and missionaries of the Brotherhood of the Sleeper — the five Gurus are Baal Namib, Baal Orun, Baal Cadar, Baal Tyon and Baal Tondral, plus recruiters like Baal Parvez and Baal Taran in the Old Camp and Baal Isidro in the New Camp. Those five Gurus are the gatekeepers you must win over to join.
The Brotherhood has five Gurus, and you need the favour of at least four of the five. Once four recommendations are in and you have reached character level 5, Cor Kalom will initiate you into the order.
No — and you should not try. Unlike most NPCs, walking up to a Guru and talking first does not begin a favour quest, and it can count against your admission. Wait for each Guru to speak to you, and approach Baal Namib through Lester rather than directly.
The two favour items come from other Gurus. Baal Orun rewards a Sleep scroll for finishing his Swampweed Harvest quest — use it on a Novice to impress Baal Cadar. Baal Kagan's Canvassing Customers quest lets you pick a Dreamcall (Prepared) roll, which earns Baal Tyon's approval. The favours chain into each other.
Baal Tondral is the fifth Guru of the Brotherhood, found at his sermon tent in the northeast of the camp near the arena. His favour comes from the New Souls for the Brotherhood quest: travel back to the Old Camp, convince a convict (Dusty) to join the Brotherhood, and bring him to the swamp. He is the Guru players most often miss because he is mistaken for the source NPC Baal Kagan.
Baal Isidro is a Brotherhood missionary in the New Camp, usually found in the New Camp tavern. Like Baal Parvez in the Old Camp, he is a recruiter who spreads the word of the Sleeper — he is not one of the five Gurus whose favour you need to be initiated.
Baal Parvez is a Brotherhood missionary who preaches in the Old Camp marketplace, alongside Baal Taran. He is the safest way to reach the swamp temple for the first time: speak to him and he walks you through the swamp to the gate, fighting anything you meet on the way.
